I just heard the same stoy from a (liberal) leaning buddy of mine on vacation this week. I was like - huh? What? I, too, am skeptical. Can someone put forward the evidence of this? Where are the photographs? After all, this is the size of Texas, right? I mean, c'mon - show me.

Okay, I am a real moderate in the political sense. When shown with proven science (not agenda driven) an issue is true, I'll get on board to find 'sensible-logical' solutions without destroying the United States economy. These solutions can not be estimates, extrapolations or computer run projections. After much internet surfing, I found that it was NOAA in 1988 that 'estimated' the Texas size pollution mass. I was taught and mentored that best guesses were unaccepable during my science education. So I ask, where are photos of this plastic mass the size of Texas? I've read and heard all the excuses; satellites can't see it, it's clear plastic, miles of stringy collections, etc, etc, etc. Listen, my intelligence is insulted with all of these nonsense excuses. We know the geological and chemical make-ups of most of the solar system planets and we can't get proof that this exists? Are you all serious? Come on; let's be honest, companies recycle plastic for profit, not only because they are 'green' people. If this mass really exists (since Moore discovered it), this would be huge on the World stage! But all I hear is recycled media hype which no one has undeniably shown to be true. So, how about it? Anyone out there that is middle of the road that would like to share proof with me? I am all ears!
