  1. There is no question that men and women need to do a lot better in terms of not creating detritus as they go about the sometimes harsh business of surviving.

In some ways, in the US, we are doing much to preserve Mother Earth.

80% of all land in the US is not available for private purchase.

As a result, at least to that extent Mother Earth is by and large protected.

Those lands, like the National Parks, that are subject to the detritus of man, there is also an army of people assigned to clean up after their fellows.

For the millions who are poured into our cities, the grand majority of people, if they are able, do pick up after themselves.

However, just as with any community, there are a percentage of folks who just don’t care about much of anything. These individuals don’t care about the environment, others or even themselves.

You can see them spitting on the sidewalks, throwing the butts of cigarettes on the roadways, and dumping fast food trays out of their windows as they speed along highways, etc.

We are beginning to understand that force is the only real way to deal with people such as this. Wish it weren’t that way, but there it is

In Singapore, the cleanest and best run place on the planet, the envy of every American who has ever visited there, does not tolerate the kind of behavior that makes many American cities ugly. Caning is the penalty for being a slob in Singapore.

Perhaps if we just showed the films of the beautiful, clean streets of Singapore and then someone spitting on their sidewalk followed by a caning, that might make an impression on America’s slobs.

    Who knows what will work.

How does one reach a person who goes out of his way to throw his garbage in everyone else’s face?

Maybe what this web site is doing is a start.

I certainly bless you for the effort.

Happy New Year. Please keep up the good work.

  2. What we ha done with our planet is our biggest mistake. We have ourselves to blame and I think it is time for us to realize that because things are getting very serious.
