On the very day that thousands of bloggers around the world have pledged to dedicate their blogs to the issue of climate change, more than 2 million people have said they are ready for a fair, ambitious and binding agreement to be signed by world leaders at the upcoming climate change summit set for December in Copenhagen, Denmark. The TckTckTck campaign is an unprecedented global alliance of non-government organizations, trade unions, and faith groups that is urging everyday people to stand up. If enough people stand up, our politicians will stand up and be the leaders we want them to be on the issue of climate change.
Here are some interesting statistics on the more than 2 million people who have signed up so far:
- 365,024 from France
- 130,000+ from New Zealand – this is 2% of the entire population
- 227,000 from Argentina
- 65,000 from India
So far we’ve had 2 million people say they are ready. With all sorts of cool actions planned before Copenhagen like 350’s International Day of Action and our Tck in a Box campaign, the number of people we see standing up will continue grow.
